He was 74 and no further details have been release apart from a statement on his Instagram page that reads:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Lindbergh on September 3rd 2019, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Petra, his first wife Astrid, his four sons Benjamin, Jérémy, Simon, Joseph and seven grandchildren. He leaves a big void.”
The German-born photographer and film director is one of the most influential creatives of our time and worked on campaigns with Breitling, shot Beyoncé’s I am… Sacha Fierce album cover and captured the behind the scenes of A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga among many more iconic moments.
He captured the beauty of his subjects with a trademark cinematic style, and now his images have become instantly recognisable.
