Is Abuja Becoming The New Lagos?

Abuja is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and the political center for most countries.
With the current view on road transportation, traffic congestion has substantially increased in some places in Abuja such as Gwarinpa, Galadimawa, kubwa-Suleja road and the Abuja-Keffi road.
There are two sides to these traffic; the human traffic and automobile traffic. Passengers suffer a lot on these roads everyday and due to this, some persons have lost their jobs. It is no news that passengers and road transporters lament everyday at the traffic situation.
The Gwarinpa traffic has become a thing of concern as many people try to know why it happens. For the past 4weeks, residents of Gwarinpa complain tirelessly on the rise of consecutive traffic.
After speaking with one of the road transport worker on the Aya-Nyanya road axis, he said “The situation is becoming so unbearable because there’s are no linked roads on this axis and daily, i spend 2-3 hours on the road”. It’s disturbing to see people get held on the road for hours.
A recent interview from passengers are that the traffic has been a major cause of accidents on the roads and other times leaving vehicles damaged as a result of over heating.
Major entry/exit routes such as the Kaduna-Kubwa-Abuja, Keffi-Nyanya-Abuja and Gwagwalada-Airport road-Abuja induces pain to motorist as the battle to over ride the traffic becomes fruitless.
The key solution to the Abuja-Keffi road traffic is that there should be linked roads.
